Andranik Snatched a Draw from Urartu in the First Armenian Cup Semi-Final
Andranik and Urartu played to a 1–1 draw in the first leg of the Armenian Cup semi-final, keeping the intrigue alive ahead of the return match.
The scoring was opened as early as the 12th minute: Urartu midfielder Artem Polyarus confidently converted a penalty to put his team ahead. The visitors controlled the course of the match but failed to extend their advantage.
The climax came at the very end. In the 89th minute, Andranik player Michael Ndidi struck a precise long-range shot to restore parity, earning his team a crucial draw.
The return leg between the teams will take place on April 29.
It is worth noting that Andranik has already written its name into history by becoming the first team from the First League to reach the semi-final stage of the Armenian Cup. After the first match, the team maintains real chances of reaching the final.
Urartu, one of the leaders of the Armenian Premier League, fielded a semi-reserve squad, underestimating their opponent and ultimately paying the price by dropping the win.
In the other semi-final, Ararat-Armenia will face Noah on April 16. The match will kick off at 18:30.
