On November 6, the men's 110 kg competition concluded at the 2026 World Weightlifting Championships in Ningbo, China. Uzbekistan's Akbar Djuraev claimed three gold medals and set two world records, while Armenia's Garik Karapetyan finished seventh in the snatch but failed to register a total.
Djuraev delivered an impressive performance in both disciplines. In the snatch, the Uzbek weightlifter lifted 198 kg, improving his own world record by one kilogram. He followed that with a 234 kg clean and jerk, bringing his combined total to 432 kg — a new world record. The previous record of 428 kg also belonged to Djuraev.
Iran's Alireza Nasiri claimed the silver medal in the total with 418 kg (185+233), while Turkmenistan's Shahzadbek Matyakubov secured bronze with 417 kg (187+230).
Armenian representative Garik Karapetyan performed well in the snatch, lifting 183 kg to finish seventh. However, the Armenian weightlifter was unable to register a successful result in the clean and jerk, leaving him without an overall total.
