Armenian wrestler Vazgen Tevanyan has won a bronze medal at the 2026 European Championships in the 65 kg weight category.
In the match for third place, Tevanyan secured a confident victory over Azerbaijan’s Rashid Babazade with a score of 7:0, demonstrating clear dominance throughout the bout.
Earlier, in the semifinals, the Armenian athlete lost to Russia’s Bashir Magomedov with a score of 3:3. The outcome was decided in favor of his opponent based on additional criteria, which sparked controversy due to a disputed refereeing decision.
This medal marks Tevanyan’s third at the European Championships — he has previously won both gold and bronze at the continental level.
It is worth noting that on the same day, Manvel Khndzrtsyan (57 kg) also added another bronze medal to Armenia’s tally.
