Tevanyan and Khndzryan off to a strong start at the 2026 European Wrestling Championships

On April 24, the opening day of the 2026 European Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Tirana, four Armenian wrestlers competed, with two advancing to the semifinals.
Vazgen Tevanyan defeated Khamzat Arsamurzuev (France) 5:2 in his first bout, then edged past Shamil Mamedov (Bulgaria) 2:1. In the semifinals, Tevanyan will face one of the tournament favorites, Bashir Magomedov (Russia).
Manvel Khndzryan also secured two victories to reach the semifinals. He first beat Germany’s Horst Lech 12:6, then claimed an early victory over Romania’s Razvan Cochis, 12:1. In the semifinals, he will face a strong opponent, Musa Mekhtikhanov (Russia).
