Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Malkhas Amoyan continues to make history by winning his fifth consecutive European Championship gold medal.
In the final of the 2026 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship held in Tirana, Amoyan defeated Georgia’s Ramaz Zoidze. The bout ended in a 1:1 draw, but victory was awarded to the Armenian athlete based on the criterion of scoring the first point.
This final was a rematch of last year’s showdown, where Amoyan also prevailed with a 3:1 victory.

A Confident Path to Gold
Throughout the tournament, Amoyan demonstrated dominant wrestling:
- Victory over Irfan Mirzoyev (Ukraine) — 10:0
- Victory over Karl Baff (Sweden) — 4:0
- Victory over Gutu (Moldova) in the semifinal — 3:1
Five Years of Absolute Dominance
From 2022 to 2026, Amoyan has remained undefeated at the European level in the 77 kg weight category, securing a unique streak of five consecutive titles.
