21-year-old Urartu goalkeeper Gor Matinyan has received his first call-up to the Armenia national team for the friendly match against Belarus (March 29).
“Since childhood, I have dreamed of this moment — not for attention, but to represent my country. And I got this opportunity exactly when I needed it the most.
I understand that nothing comes easily — you have to earn it every day. This is just the beginning; there is a lot of hard work ahead. The days with the national team will be very important for me.
This is a great experience, and I will try to learn both on and off the pitch. I am ready to train more, work more, improve and give everything I have. Our flag is both an honour and an opportunity. For Armenia, with all my heart,” Matinyan told Sportaran.com.
Over the past two years, Matinyan has been the first-choice goalkeeper of Armenia’s U21 team, making 17 appearances. Now he has the chance to make his debut for the senior national team.
