Silver for Armenia: Alexandra Grigoryan Finishes Second at the 2026 European Championship
Armenian weightlifter Alexandra Grigoryan won a silver medal at the 2026 European Weightlifting Championship in the 58 kg weight category.
The 20-year-old athlete competed in a new weight class for the first time and delivered a confident performance. Grigoryan placed 4th in the snatch and finished third in the clean and jerk. With a total of 210 kg (91+119), she secured second place overall.
This result continues Grigoryan’s consistent performances on the European stage. In 2024, she became European champion in the 55 kg category, and in 2025 she won silver in the same division. In 2026, she once again stepped onto the second podium place — this time in a new weight class.
Final Results (58 kg, women):
- Kamila Konotop (Ukraine) — 221 kg (100+121)
- Alexandra Grigoryan (Armenia) — 210 kg (91+119)
- Olga Tyo (Russia) — 209 kg (93+116)
For the Armenian national team, this became the second silver medal at the tournament in Batumi. Earlier, Garnik Cholakyan won silver in the 60 kg category.
