Results of Day 1 of the 2026 European Judo Championships

On April 16, the 2026 European Judo Championships kicked off in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. On the opening competition day, medals were contested in four weight categories: men’s 60 kg and 66 kg, and women’s 48 kg and 52 kg divisions.

Team France emerged as the main triumph of the day, winning two gold medals. Russia and Kosovo each claimed one gold medal.

Three athletes represented Armenia, but the team was unable to secure a medal. David Abrahamyan (66 kg) came closest to the podium, losing in the bronze medal bout.

  • Itzhak Ashpiz (Israel) and Ahmad Yusifov (Azerbaijan)

66 kg

  • Murad Chopanov (Russia)
  • Luukas Saha (Finland)
  • Turan Bayramov (Azerbaijan) and Walid Khyar (France)

Women

48 kg

  • Shirine Boukli (France)
  • Sabina Gilyazova (Russia)
  • Marina Vorobyeva (Russia) and Laura Martinez (Spain)

52 kg

  • Distria Krasniqi (Kosovo)
  • Amandine Buchard (France)
  • Ariane Toro Soler (Spain) and Odette Giuffrida (Italy)

On the second day of the tournament, medals will be contested in three weight categories:

  • Men — 73 kg
  • Women — 57 kg and 63 kg
