On February 11, the fifth competition day of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo came to an end. A total of eight medal events were contested, and after five days athletes have already shared 35 gold medals.
Italy surprisingly claimed two gold medals in luge and moved up to third place in the medal standings. France also had a successful day, winning gold in biathlon and figure skating. The United States added two more gold medals in freestyle skiing and speed skating. Medal table leader Norway secured only one gold, allowing its closest rivals to reduce the gap.
Another surprise was the bronze medal won by Bulgaria’s Lara Hristova in biathlon.
