Former Armenia national team captain Varazdat Haroyan has terminated his contract with Hungarian club Kazincbarcika. The club’s press office confirmed the departure of the 32-year-old defender.
According to the statement, the agreement was ended by mutual consent. Haroyan, who joined the team in the summer, requested an immediate termination of his contract, citing family circumstances. The club accepted his request.
This season in the Hungarian championship, Haroyan made nine appearances and scored one goal. He played the full 90 minutes in seven matches before unexpectedly missing five rounds. In the last two games, he returned to the starting lineup but was substituted late in both matches.
It should be recalled that in September 2025 Haroyan announced his retirement from the Armenian national team, stating that he did not wish to work with the current head coach, Yeghishe Melikyan. Disagreements with Melikyan had already led to his departure from Yerevan’s Pyunik and subsequent move to Hungary.
