A match took place in the Armenian futsal championship that is already being discussed across the entire region. The reigning national champion, “Yerevan,” defeated the season’s newcomer “Alashkert” with a score of 98:1.
Initially, the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) announced that such a result was a world record, but the publication was soon deleted. The reason is obvious: similar scores have occurred before in lower-tier and weaker leagues, so it cannot be officially recognized as a world record.
Nevertheless, this result clearly demonstrates the lack of competitiveness in the current championship. This season, the Armenian futsal league has already seen lopsided scores such as 42:4, 22:0, and 26:2. In terms of squad quality and preparation level, four clubs — Unisport, Yerevan, Atletic Yerevan, and Sievn — are far superior to the other participants. Five other teams were created in a rushed manner shortly before the season began, which led to a major imbalance and a series of extremely high-scoring matches.
