On April 1, 2026, a regular meeting of the Club Licensing Committee of the Football Federation of Armenia was held. The focus was on club applications for obtaining a national license required to participate in the 2026/2027 Armenian Premier League season.
Documents from 12 clubs were reviewed — nine from the top division and three from the First League. All submitted packages covering non-financial criteria, which are a mandatory stage of the national licensing process.
Following the meeting, the committee unanimously approved licenses for 11 clubs. The approved clubs are:
Pyunik
Van
Urartu
Ararat
Noah
Ararat-Armenia
Shirak
Gandzasar
Syunik
Sardarapat
Obtaining a national license allows these clubs to proceed to the next stage — the UEFA licensing process. Teams will now begin preparing financial documentation to meet international requirements.
The only club denied a license was Andranik. The decision was made due to non-compliance with sporting criteria. In particular, the club failed to present a women’s team participating in a national competition, which is a mandatory requirement.
However, Andranik has the right to appeal the decision within five working days by applying to the FFA Licensing Appeals Committee.
Thus, the process of forming the lineup for the upcoming season has already begun, and the final list of teams will depend on completing all licensing stages, including UEFA requirements.
It should be noted that BKMA does not participate in the licensing process. Therefore, up to 12 clubs may take part in the 2026/27 Armenian championship, though not all licensed clubs are guaranteed participation. At present, the Armenian Premier League is expected to consist of 10 teams.
