The head coach of Armenia’s national shooting team, Seyran Nikoghosyan, stated that the European Championship 2026 held in Yerevan was organized at a high level and received positive feedback from participants.
According to the specialist, before the tournament began he had serious concerns about whether the competition could be held without problems. However, the championship ultimately took place successfully, and delegations from various countries were satisfied with the organization.
“At first I was very afraid that we wouldn’t succeed, but everything went very well. Everything was perfectly organized. All participating countries are satisfied and even surprised that we managed to hold such a tournament,” Armenpress quoted Nikoghosyan as saying.
The coach emphasized that hosting the championship became an important step for the development of shooting sports in Armenia. All equipment and property purchased for the competition will remain at the disposal of the Shooting Federation of Armenia, which will allow the country to establish an international-level shooting range.
Nikoghosyan also summed up the results of the national team’s performance. According to him, Armenian athletes delivered a solid result, winning 13 medals — 4 gold, 8 silver, and 1 bronze.
“This shows that everyone contributed. Federation President Artur Hovhannisyan did tremendous work. The athletes felt a great responsibility and performed with dignity,” the coach noted.
The European Shooting Championship for adults and youth was held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex in Yerevan from February 28 to March 5. More than 450 athletes, coaches, and delegates from around 40 countries took part in the tournament. Medals were contested in the disciplines of air pistol, air rifle, and moving target shooting.
