On September 3, the 2025 Wushu World Championship kicked off in the capital of Brazil. On the first day of the Sanda discipline, a dramatic episode occurred in the fight between Moroccan fighter Saad Boujekka and Chinese athlete Gensheng Jin.
Already in the first round, the Chinese competitor confidently controlled the course of the bout. After one of his attacks and a powerful kick to the head, the Moroccan lost balance, collapsed onto the ring, and then fell headfirst off it.
Boujekka lost consciousness, and the medical team immediately rushed to assist him. Despite doctors’ best efforts, the athlete did not regain consciousness. He was carried out on a stretcher, and victory was awarded to the Chinese fighter, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the under 75 kg weight category.
