Armenia announces squad for the 2026 European Weightlifting Championships

The Armenian Weightlifting Federation has announced the final squad for the 2026 European Championships, which will take place from April 19 to 26 in Batumi, Georgia.
The roster includes both experienced leaders and promising athletes capable of competing for top positions.
Men:
60 kg — Garnik Cholakyan
71 kg — Gor Sahakyan
79 kg — Martin Poghosyan
88 kg — Rafik Harutyunyan
94 kg — Ara Aghanyan
110 kg — Garik Karapetyan
110 kg — Simon Martirosyan

Tournament highlights
The 2026 European Championships in Batumi will differ from previous editions. The tournament will serve as a qualification event for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, expanding the list of participants.
Teams from Jersey, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man, and South Africa (competing out of contest) are also expected to participate.
In addition, separate teams from Great Britain, as well as England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, will compete.
