The preliminary card of the HYPE Armenia tournament, taking place on December 30 in Yerevan, has come to an end. In its final bout, Armenian fighter Roman Kalashyan secured a victory over Suleyman Makhmadov after his opponent refused to continue the fight in the second round.
The bout was intense, but following the second round, Makhmadov declined to continue, and the win was awarded to Kalashyan. After the fight, Suleyman expressed disagreement with the result and called for a rematch, stating that he considered his loss unfair.
Special attention was drawn to the Tajik fighter’s gesture before entering the ring. Makhmadov appeared carrying the Armenian flag and walking out to an Armenian song. After the fight, he explained that the gesture was dedicated to his close friend, an ethnic Armenian, who was killed in the war in 2021. As a sign of respect and remembrance, Suleyman asked those present to honor his friend with a minute of silence.

The HYPE Armenia tournament continues, with the remaining fights of the evening still ahead.
