According to Sportaran.com, Moscow-based football club Rodina asked the Football Federation of Armenia not to call up their forward Artur Gharibyan to the Armenia U21 national team for the upcoming Euro 2027 qualification matches.
The reason is that the Russian First League does not pause for international fixtures, and at the end of March Rodina has two important league matches — against Ural and Chaika. The team is currently in 3rd place and is fighting for promotion, so the club wanted to keep Gharibyan available for these games.
The 19-year-old Armenian forward returned to Rodina this winter after a loan spell at Spartak Kostroma, where he scored 5 goals. At the Moscow club, Garibyan mainly comes off the bench so far, but he has already become an important player, strengthening the team in the closing stages of matches.
The Armenia U21 squad has already been announced: forwards Edik Vardanyan and Araik Eloyan, who play in the Armenian league, have been called up.
Armenia U21 match schedule:
-
March 27 — away match vs Poland (21:00)
-
March 31 — home match vs North Macedonia (18:00)
