Armenian wrestler Razmik Kurdian (130 kg weight category) won the silver medal at the U23 World Championships taking place in Novi Sad, Serbia.
This is the first medal for Team Armenia at the current tournament.
Kurdian confidently advanced to the final after three consecutive victories:
Round of 16: Razmik Kurdian (Armenia) — Ilya Shemchuk (Belarus) — 4:3
Quarterfinal: Razmik Kurdian (Armenia) — Artur Sargsyan — victory for the Armenian wrestler
Semifinal: Razmik Kurdian (Armenia) — Aleksandr Melekhov (Russia) — 5:1
In the decisive gold medal bout, Kurdian lost 0:8 to Iran’s Fardin Hedayati, becoming the silver medalist of the World Championships.
