Brazilian forward Rafael Nadal is highly likely to continue his career in Armenia. According to insider Suren Meliksetyan, the 20-year-old striker is close to joining FC Syunik, which competes in the Armenian First League.
Thus, Armenian club football may gain another player with a well-known surname. Previously, the son of legendary Ivorian striker Didier Drogba — Isaac Drogba — joined FC Hayk, while Zidan Banjaqui signed a contract with Ararat-Armenia.
Rafael Nadal is a product of Brazilian football. He began his career in the youth system of Azuriz and played for São Paulo U17 in 2022. Later, the striker represented Hope Internacional and Botafogo-SP, and last season he became a member of Operário-PR U20.

At the beginning of 2026, Nadal participated in the prestigious Copinha 2026 youth tournament with Operário-PR U20. In five matches, he scored three goals and provided one assist, helping his team reach the quarterfinals. Notably, the forward scored in the last three matches of the tournament, playing a key role in advancing to the next stage.
Currently, FC Syunik sits third in the Armenian First League standings. During the winter transfer window, the club has been actively strengthening its squad in pursuit of promotion. The potential transfer of Rafael Nadal could become one of the most notable signings of the season.
