Five Armenian wrestlers to start at the U23 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships

Today, March 13, the 2026 U23 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships begin in Zrenjanin (Serbia).
On the first day of competition, wrestlers in the 55, 63, 77, 87 and 130 kg weight categories will take to the mat.
Armenia's lineup for day one
55 kg — Manvel Khachatryan
Bronze medalist of the senior European Championships.
First opponent in the Round of 16 — Ivan Stefansky (Ukraine).
63 kg — Armen Sukiasyan
Silver medalist of the 2021 U17 European Championships.
Will compete at the U23 level for the first time.
First opponent in the Round of 16 — Maksut Sultanov (Ukraine).
77 kg — Samvel Terteryan
Winner of the Gymnasiade-2024, bronze medalist of the U20 and U17 European Championships.
Terteryan is only 18 and will make his U23 debut.
First opponent in the Round of 16 — Dominik Botos (Hungary).
87 kg — Vigen Nazaryan
Bronze medalist of the 2025 U23 European Championships,
2022 U20 World Champion,
2023 U20 World bronze medalist.
He has also twice been included in Armenia’s senior national team.
First opponent in the Round of 16 — Achiko Bolkvadze (Georgia),
2023 U20 World Champion, three-time U20 European Champion and 2021 U17 World Champion.
Bolkvadze previously defeated Nazaryan in the final of the 2023 U20 European Championships.
Thus, two favorites will meet already at an early stage of the tournament.
130 kg — Aramayis Harutyunyan
Will compete at the U23 level for the first time.
First opponent in the Round of 16 — Leonhardt Junger (Austria).
The competition starts at 10:30 Serbian time (12:30 Moscow time, 13:30 Yerevan time).
