From January 29 to February 1, Krasnoyarsk hosts one of the most prestigious freestyle wrestling tournaments in the world calendar — the Ivan Yarygin International Cup. On the second competition day, January 30, medals were awarded in three men’s weight categories and several women’s divisions.
Main Winners of the Day (Freestyle)
Gold medals were won by:
Munkh-Erdene Batkhuyag (Mongolia), Chermen Tavitov (Moscow), and David Baev (KhMAO).
Batkhuyag became only the third Mongolian in history to win a Yarygin men’s title, and the first in the 21st century.
Notably, Batkhuyag is a medalist of the 2023 U23 World Championships in Tirana. Mongolia’s team did not officially compete there — he and his coach traveled at their own expense and still reached the world podium. At the 2025 World Championships, he lost in the Round of 16 to Armenian wrestler Arsen Harutyunyan, 8–13.
