Russian figure skater Petr Gummenik will present his short program at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan to music by Armenian composer Edgar Hakobyan.
Originally, the athlete planned to skate to a different musical piece, but the rights holder prohibited its use. In this situation, Edgar Hakobyan agreed to provide his music for Gummenik’s short program — “Waltz 1805,” the soundtrack from the film Onegin, directed by Sarik Andreasyan.
It is also worth noting that the preparation of the Russian figure skater involves renowned Armenian coach Rafayel Harutyunyan, who is assisting Petr Gummenik in developing his Olympic program.
We also remind that the Armenian sports pair Karina Akopova / Nikita Rakhmanin will compete at the 2026 Olympic Games to Armenian music as well — the composition “Artsakh” by Ara Gevorgyan.
Petr Gummenik’s short program at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan will take place on February 10.
