The winter transfer window in Italy is kicking off with high-profile deals. Two notable moves involving Serie A clubs are in the final stages: Taty Castellanos is leaving Lazio for the Premier League, while Manor Solomon is set to become a Fiorentina player.
Israeli attacking midfielder Manor Solomon, who belongs to Tottenham and is currently on loan at Villarreal, will arrive in Florence on Friday, January 2. The player will undergo a medical examination in the morning before signing a contract with La Viola. According to Sky Sport, the deal is a loan with an option to buy. Fiorentina expect Solomon to strengthen their attacking unit and add creativity in the final third.
Fiorentina’s transfer activity does not stop there. The club is in talks with Torino over a potential swap involving Rolando Mandragora and Cesare Casadei, and has also requested information from Cagliari regarding forward Luvumbo.
Meanwhile, Lazio are finalizing one of the most expensive sales of this winter. The Roman club have agreed on the transfer of Argentine striker Taty Castellanos to West Ham for €30 million. The parties are currently exchanging documents, and the player is expected to travel to England in the coming days to complete his medical.
It is worth noting that 15% of the transfer fee — approximately €4.5 million — will go to New York City FC, from whom Lazio signed Castellanos in 2023. Brazilian side Flamengo also showed interest in the striker, but the Argentine opted against a move to South America, choosing instead to continue his career in Europe and compete in the prestigious English Premier League.
Earlier, AC Milan had already signed striker Niclas Füllkrug on loan from West Ham. The German forward could make his debut for his new club today against Cagliari.
Overall, the start of the transfer window promises to be busy, with Italian clubs already actively reshaping their squads for the second half of the season.
