First medals of the 2026 Olympics: full results as of February 7

On February 7, the first sets of medals were awarded at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. On the opening competition day, athletes determined medalists in five sports: snowboarding, cross-country skiing, speed skating, ski jumping, and alpine skiing.
The host nation, Italy, made a strong start to the home Olympics, winning three medals, including one gold. The standout athlete of the day was 35-year-old Francesca Lollobrigida, who claimed gold in the women’s 3000 meters speed skating on her birthday, setting a new Olympic record.

Figure skating team event
The figure skating team event also continued on February 7. Points were awarded in the men’s short program and the free dance in ice dancing. After five segments, USA leads the standings.

These five teams will compete for the team event medals on February 8.
France, South Korea, China, Great Britain, and Poland failed to reach the final.
Curling and women’s hockey matches were also held during the day, along with qualification events in luge and freestyle skiing.
On February 8, eight sets of medals will be awarded at the 2026 Olympics.
