All Armenian freestyle wrestling champions have been determined

On December 24, the 2025 Armenian Freestyle Wrestling Championship concluded in Charentsavan. The national championship was of special importance, as it served as a qualifying tournament for the 2026 European Championship, as well as the European U23 Championship.

The tournament was missed by Armenia’s national team leaders Arsen Harutyunyan and Arman Andreasyan, but Vazgen Tevanyan took part and became champion in the 70 kg weight category, defeating Davit Margaryan in the final.

61 kg: Mezhlum Mezhlumyan
65 kg: Arman Musikyan
70 kg: Vazgen Tevanyan
74 kg: Narek Harutyunyan
79 kg: Grayr Alikhanyan
86 kg: Razmik Ephremyan
92 kg: Knyaz Iboyan
97 kg: Gurgen Simonyan
125 kg: Khachatur Khachatryan

The head coach of the Armenian national freestyle wrestling team, Abetnak Kurginyan, commented on the wrestlers’ performances:

“Based on the results of the championship, a new team was formed. Young athletes became winners and medalists in several weight categories. It is still too early to name names, but some very promising wrestlers have already emerged.”
