Ararat-Armenia have announced the signing of Zidan Banjaqui. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder of the Guinea-Bissau national team will continue his career in the Armenian league.

The footballer’s last club was Greek side Panserraikos. Previously, Banjaqui played in Portugal’s second division, and in the 2019/20 season he featured in the country’s top flight. He is a product of the academies of Lisbon giants Sporting and Benfica.

At international level, the midfielder has made 9 appearances for Guinea-Bissau and scored 2 goals. His transfer value is estimated at €600,000.

Interesting detail: Zidan’s brother, Daniel Banjaqui, is a U17 World Champion with the Portugal national team.

It is worth noting that Ararat-Armenia are having a strong season and lead the Armenian Premier League standings after 15 rounds. The signing of an experienced attacking midfielder is aimed at strengthening the squad in the title race.

Coach Nuno Manta Santos: “Zidane Banjaqui has everything to shine in Armenia”
