19-year-old winger Albert Aleksanjan has signed with Swedish club IFK Norrköping, which competes in Superettan, the country’s second-tier league.
The player, who has a unique background, was born in Latvia, raised in Norway, and has Armenian roots—making him a potential candidate for the Armenian national team. This was announced on the club’s official website.
“My father is from Armenia, my mother is from Latvia, and we moved to Norway when I was three,” Aleksanyan said during a walk through the club’s facilities in Norrköping.
He joined IFK following a standout season with Norwegian club Ull/Kisa, where he recorded 25 goal contributions (16 goals and 9 assists) in the third tier of Norwegian football in 2025.
“It was a fast and successful year. I made a big step forward, and now I’m here. I feel great,” said Albert.
He began his career at Frigg, later playing for Ullern before moving to Ull/Kisa. According to the player, his strengths include dribbling, speed, and goal-scoring ability.
IFK Norrköping's sporting director Henrik Jurelius commented on the transfer:
“Albert has the qualities we were looking for. He’s versatile but mainly plays on the right wing. His physicality and ability to break into the box make him an exciting player. We look forward to his development here. Welcome to Norrköping!”
Before the move, Aleksanjan admitted he knew little about the club but began actively learning about its history, the city, and its fans. One of the reasons he was interested in IFK was head coach Eldar Abdulic.
Aleksanjan is the latest player from Norwegian football to join IFK. In 2025, Jonas Weber, Fabian Holst Larsen, Ryan Nelson, and Elias Jemal followed a similar path.
