Nair Tiknizyan has traveled to France, where he is set for another clash with Lille — this time in the UEFA Europa League playoffs.
During the league phase of the tournament, Red Star Belgrade defeated the French club 1–0. In that match, the Serbian side successfully neutralized their opponent’s attack, while Tiknizyan delivered one of his strongest Europa League performances, actively supporting attacks and remaining solid in defense.
At that time, Lille featured legendary French striker Olivier Giroud, adding extra prestige and attention to the encounter.
Now the rivalry reaches a new level. Red Star will face Lille in the Europa League Round of 32. The first leg will take place on February 19 in France, with the return match scheduled for February 26 in Belgrade.
For the 26-year-old Armenia international defender, this will mark his first experience in the knockout stage of European competitions — a crucial milestone in his club career. Matches against a strong French opponent will provide a serious test and an opportunity to prove himself on a bigger stage.
Ahead lie decisive European nights and possibly a new step forward in the career of one of Armenia’s key national team players.
