The Armenian men’s weightlifting team is currently holding its first training camp of 2026 in Gyumri. The preparation focuses on key competitions of the year as well as the Armenian Championship, scheduled for February 12–15.
Thirteen athletes are participating in the camp. After the Gyumri stage, the team will continue training in Yerevan before competing in the national championship.
Armenia’s weightlifting head coach Akop Pilosyan told the Federation’s press service:
“Our first training camp of the year is in Gyumri, followed by a camp in Yerevan, and then the Armenian Championship. After that, we have three more camps in preparation for the European Championship, which will take place in April in Batumi.”
Assistant coach David Muradyan also commented on the training progress:
“I believe the athletes are feeling good — the mood is very positive. This camp focuses primarily on strength training, as it is the first stage. In the second camp, the program will be slightly adjusted with the upcoming Armenian Championship in mind.”
The training camp in Gyumri will conclude on January 25.
