Swiss freestyle skier Mathilde Gremaud etched her name into the history of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. On February 9, she claimed a confident victory in the women’s slopestyle, becoming a two-time consecutive Olympic champion and securing the fourth Olympic medal of her career.
Winning run and the emotions in the stands
The decisive moment came in the second run, where Gremaud scored 86.96 points to successfully defend her title. After the final jump, the Swiss athlete crossed the finish line with her national flag draped over her shoulders, while the crowd chanted: “Mathilde! Mathilde! Mathilde!” — a moment that became one of the highlights of the Games.
Clean rail sections, extremely difficult spins, and her signature style allowed Gremaud to leave all her rivals behind and once again confirm her status as the queen of slopestyle.
Gremaud delivered Switzerland its second gold medal at the 2026 Olympic Games.
Gu’s consistency and Oldham’s first medal
The silver medal once again went to China’s Eileen Gu. This also marked the fourth Olympic medal of her career. Despite attempting to improve her score, Eileen finished second, just as she had at the previous Games.
The bronze medal was claimed by Canada’s Megan Oldham. This was the first Olympic medal of her career, making the achievement especially emotional for the Canadian team.
