Manvel Khachatryan Defeats Turkish Opponent to Win Bronze at U23 European Wrestling Championships

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Manvel Khachatryan (55 kg) won the bronze medal at the 2026 U23 European Wrestling Championships taking place in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
In the bronze medal match, Khachatryan confidently defeated Turkey’s Serchan Kezgin. The bout ended early with a 9–0 victory for the Armenian wrestler.
On his way to the medal, Khachatryan also secured a convincing 8–0 win over Ivan Stefanski of Ukraine. In the semifinal, he lost 0–4 to Russian wrestler Alibek Amirov.
It is worth noting that Khachatryan had previously won a bronze medal at the senior European Championships. Now he has added a medal from the continental U23 championship to his achievements.
Khachatryan’s bronze became the first medal for the Armenian national team at the U23 European Championships in Zrenjanin. The Armenian team still has three finals ahead, as well as two potential bronze medal bouts.
