Armenia’s Best Athletes of 2025 Receive State Awards and Cash Prizes

On April 6, a formal award ceremony for the “Best Choice in Sports 2025” took place at the Residence of the President of the Republic. The event was held as part of International Sports Day and brought together representatives of government bodies, sports federations, as well as the country’s leading athletes and coaches.
Winners across all 11 categories received a cash prize of 6,250,000 AMD (approximately 16,595 USD).
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking state officials, including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan, and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan.

Top three athletes of the year:
- Varazdat Lalayan (weightlifting)
- Artur Davtyan (artistic gymnastics)
- Malhkas Amoyan (Greco-Roman wrestling)
Best female athlete:
- Aleksandra Grigoryan (weightlifting)
Best athlete with disabilities:
- Sargis Sargsyan (chess)
Best team:
- Armenia national futsal team
Best young athlete:
- Gaspar Terteryan (Greco-Roman wrestling)
Comeback / breakthrough of the year:
- Suren Harutyunyan (karate)
Athlete who brought Armenia the greatest recognition:
- Hamlet Manukyan (artistic gymnastics)
Best coach:
- Pashik Alaverdyan (weightlifting)
The winner of the “Audience Choice Award” was determined by online voting:
- Suren Harutyunyan (karate)
