The head coach of Sunderland first team, Régis Le Bris, has highlighted the progress of one of the club academy’s most promising players — 18-year-old forward Finn Geragusian. Although the striker has yet to make his senior debut, he has already made a name for himself both at club and international level.
This season, Geragusian has shown solid productivity in Sunderland’s youth teams, recording 13 goals and 3 assists. He is regularly involved in training sessions with the first team, where, according to Le Bris, he leaves a positive impression.
“He has trained with us several times, and I like his profile. He is a good guy, closely connected to the club and the region. He is a really versatile player — he is still young, so he has a lot to improve, but we are satisfied with him so far,” the coach said.
The young forward has already taken steps toward senior football — he was included in the squad for an FA Cup match against Port Vale and has also made his debut for the Armenia national football team. In a friendly match against Belarus national football team (1:2) on March 29, Geragusian came on in the 64th minute, making his first appearance on the international stage.

Armenia head coach Yeghishe Melikyan also expressed his admiration for the player’s potential:
“I really liked this footballer — he will help us in the future. Now he needs to feel senior football, find a team and adapt. I will give him opportunities to play for the national team so he can improve from match to match. We need him — we don’t have another player with such qualities.”
Geragusian stands out not only for his statistics but also for his physical and tactical attributes. At 194 cm tall, he can operate effectively as a classic target man, as well as in deeper roles — as a second striker or even on the wing. In Sunderland’s youth teams, he has often been used as a right winger or attacking midfielder, highlighting his versatility and football intelligence.
Geragusian first made headlines back in 2023, when he scored in a Youth FA Cup match against Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light at just 15 years of age.
According to Sunderland’s coaching staff, the forward has all the necessary qualities to adapt to senior football — physical strength, technique, and game intelligence. The club expects that in the coming years he will take the next step and establish himself at first-team level.
However, it should be noted that Finn currently does not have a professional contract with the club. His scholarship agreement expires in the summer of 2026, and he will be free to choose another club to continue his career.
