The Cyprus national team defeated Moldova 3–2 in a friendly match held on March 30 in Nicosia.
The game showed contrasting performances across the two halves. In the first half, the hosts fully controlled the match and scored three goals. The scoring was opened by Grigoris Kastanos, followed by a brace from Charalampos Charalampous.
After the break, both teams made several substitutions, and the initiative shifted to Moldova. The visitors began to dominate possession but managed to convert only part of their chances. Goals from Petru Popescu and Victor Stina were not enough to save the game.
It is worth noting that this match is significant in the context of Armenia’s future opponents. Armenia will face Moldova in a friendly on June 9, and will meet Cyprus in the UEFA Nations League on October 2 and November 12.
Prior to this, Moldova lost 0–2 to Lithuania, while Cyprus was defeated 0–1 by Belarus.
