Karen Khachanov advances to Rotterdam ATP Round of 16 after defeating De Jong

Karen Khachanov (ATP No. 18) successfully advanced past the first round of the ATP tournament in Rotterdam, defeating Dutch representative Jesper de Jong (ATP No. 86).
The Round of 32 clash was intense and lasted 2 hours and 24 minutes. Khachanov dropped the opening set 3–6 but managed to turn the match around. In the second set, the Russian improved his return game and leveled the score at 6–4. In the decisive third set, Karen showed strong character and edged his opponent 7–5.
Throughout the match, Khachanov was solid on his first serve, firing 10 aces and converting three break points — which proved decisive in the closing stages.
As a result, Khachanov moves into the Round of 16 in Rotterdam, where he will face Spain’s Jaume Munar (ATP No. 37).
The Rotterdam tournament is an ATP 500 event and traditionally features a strong field of competitors.
