The Spanish national team reclaimed the European futsal crown by defeating the reigning champions Portugal in the final of Futsal EURO 2026. The decisive match ended with a 5–3 victory for Spain.
With this win, Spain put an end to Portugal’s dominance, as the Portuguese had won the previous two European Championships in a row, and became eight-time champions of Europe. The last time La Roja lifted the EURO trophy was ten years ago, in 2016.
The standout hero of the final was Antonio Pérez, who scored a hat-trick and etched his name into the history of European futsal. His phenomenal performance proved decisive in a dramatic match whose intensity and storyline are already being compared to the legendary final eight years ago, when Portugal dethroned Spain at the same stage.
Despite the defeat, Portugal showed true championship character. During the match, they fell behind twice (0–2 and 2–3) but managed to fight their way back each time. However, this time they were unable to stop Spain. Not only did an eight-year reign of titles come to an end, but also an impressive streak of 16 consecutive final victories (20 including qualification matches).
After the final whistle, something happened that futsal Europe had not seen for ten years — Spain once again celebrated with the trophy. The Spanish collection now includes European Championship titles from 1996, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2016 and 2026.
At the end of the tournament, Antonio Pérez was named the best player of Futsal EURO 2026.

Bronze medals go to Croatia
In the third-place match, Croatia defeated France in a penalty shootout — 5–5 (6–5 on penalties).
It was Croatia that eliminated Armenia in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
