Serie A leaders Inter Milan confidently defeated Roma 5–2 in the 31st round and maintained their position at the top of the table. The team is now 9 points ahead of AC Milan, although the Rossoneri still have a game in hand against Napoli.
The key figure of the match was Inter captain Lautaro Martínez, who scored a brace after returning from injury. He opened the scoring in the very first minute and netted the decisive goal in the 52nd minute.
Nicolò Barella, Marcus Thuram, and Hakan Çalhanoğlu also got on the scoresheet.
For Roma, the consolation goals were scored by captain Lorenzo Pellegrini and Gianluca Mancini.
It is also worth noting the return of Henrikh Mkhitaryan after injury. The 37-year-old midfielder came on in the 76th minute, replacing Piotr Zieliński.
Player ratings from Italian media
Inter (90min.com version)
Yann Sommer — 6
Made an excellent save from Malen’s header, but could have done better on Pellegrini’s rather central shot.
Akanji — 7
A series of crucial interceptions and blocks prevented Roma forwards from getting into shooting positions.
Acerbi — 6
Came on for Bisseck and played reliably, completing his defensive duties well.
Bastoni — 5.5
Returned after a difficult period and had a weak match; he lost Mancini in the build-up to the 1–1 goal.
(Darmian — 6: always reliable when protecting the lead.)
Dumfries — 6
Regaining form and getting more minutes, but still lacking his usual sharpness.
Barella — 7
Reacted well to a rebound and scored Inter’s fifth goal.
Çalhanoğlu — 7.5
When Roma tried to get back into the game, he scored a powerful long-range strike and also assisted Thuram.
Zieliński — 6.5
Showed moments of high quality, including a stylish backheel pass.
(Mkhitaryan — no rating, substitute appearance.)
Dimarco — 6
Did not score but was active in attack. Partly at fault for a conceded goal.
Lautaro Martínez — 7.5
Returned and immediately made the difference: early goal and a decisive strike in the second half.
Marcus Thuram — 8
Two assists and one goal. One of the best players on the pitch.
Roma (VoceGiallorossa version)
Svilar — 5.5
Questions remain about the second conceded goal. Overall, the team allowed too much.
Mancini — 6
Avoided major mistakes and scored a goal.
(From 46’ Ghilardi — 4.5: too passive during the third goal and unable to handle Lautaro.)
N’Dicka — 4
Too passive against Thuram and struggled throughout against Inter’s attack.
Hermoso — 4.5
Active in the first half but completely collapsed in the second.
Çelik — —
Lost Lautaro for the first goal and Thuram for the second. A very poor performance.
Pisilli — 5.5
Tried to play rationally but looked pale in a difficult match.
Cristante — 4.5
A costly mistake for the second goal and many inaccuracies.
Rensch — 5
Too cautious in the first half but provided an assist.
(From 57’ Tsimikas — 5: average performance.)
Soulé — 5.5
Noticeable early on and involved in a goal, but then faded.
(From 65’ El Shaarawy — 5: did not impact the game.)
Pellegrini — 6
Active in attack-building and scored Roma’s second goal.
Malen — 5.5
Had few chances but still created a dangerous moment against Sommer.
Gasperini — 4
The team continues to fall apart. Injuries do not justify the systemic crisis. Roma have lost their structure, and the coach bears responsibility.
