Inter Preparing New Contract for Mkhitaryan with Salary Reduction

Inter are considering extending midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s contract for another season. However, according to FcInterNews.it, the new offer would include a salary reduction of around 20% and a change in the player’s role within the team.

Although the current season cannot be described as the best for the 37-year-old Armenian, he continues to contribute to the Nerazzurri. In a recent Serie A match against Lecce, Mkhitaryan came off the bench and scored an important goal that secured Inter’s seventh consecutive league victory and ninth straight away win. His precise strike left goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone with no chance.

The midfielder could also have registered an assist, but Federico Dimarco failed to convert the opportunity he created. Nevertheless, the experienced player’s contribution once again proved significant.

Inter’s management believe that with proper rotation and careful distribution of playing time, Mkhitaryan can continue to provide value both on the pitch and in the dressing room. That is why the club are discussing a contract extension until the summer of 2026, with a more limited role mainly as a rotation player coming off the bench.

Reports suggest that a meeting between Inter representatives and the player’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is scheduled for March. The parties are expected to discuss the details of a potential one-year extension and determine whether a compromise can be reached regarding financial terms and the player’s status.

Thus, Mkhitaryan’s future in Milan could become clearer in the coming weeks.
