The International Boxing Association (IBA) will begin organizing Team Boxing World Cups starting next year. This was announced by IBA President Umar Kremlev.

According to him, each team tournament will feature national teams represented by seven boxers, and the total prize fund will exceed 10 million US dollars. The Team Boxing World Cups are planned to be held once every two years.

In addition, in 2026 the IBA will allocate 55 million dollars to support national federations, organize championships and award programs, as well as assist athletes and coaches who are unable to participate in official competitions. These decisions were announced at the IBA Congress, which brought together representatives from 155 countries. The Congress also approved new amendments to the organization’s Constitution.

As part of its boxing development programs, the IBA boxing community will distribute 50,000 pairs of gloves and headguards to athletes and federations in need of equipment. As Kremlev emphasized, the IBA’s goal is to support every boxer and every federation, making boxing accessible worldwide.

It should be recalled that on December 13, the 2025 IBA Boxing World Championships concluded in Dubai with a record prize fund of 8.3 million dollars. The Russian national team topped the medal table, winning seven gold medals.

At the same time, the results of IBA tournaments are not recognized by the International Olympic Committee. Olympic boxing qualification events are currently organized by the new international federation World Boxing, whose world championship took place in September in Liverpool.

The Armenian national team is not currently a member of World Boxing and did not participate in the Liverpool tournament. However, Armenian boxers competed at the IBA World Championships in Dubai, where they won five bronze medals.
