On March 20, the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships will kick off in Budapest. Armenia will be represented at the tournament by one athlete — Gor Hovakimyan, who will compete in the triple jump.

He traveled to Hungary together with his father and coach Garnik Hovakimyan, as well as the President of the Armenian Athletics Federation, Robert Emmiyan.

A total of 17 athletes will compete in the triple jump event, with 12 advancing to the final.

The 21-year-old Hovakimyan is the youngest participant in his discipline. At the same time, he has the most modest personal best among all registered athletes.

It is worth noting that in 2026, Gor Hovakimyan became the winner of the Balkan Championships with a result of 16.66 meters.
