Today, March 22, the Armenia national team held its first joint training ahead of the friendly match against Belarus, scheduled for March 29 in Yerevan.
Not all players have joined the team yet: most of them played matches in foreign leagues yesterday and today. However, Finn Geragusian, forward of the English youth team Sunderland, arrived at the national team early, missing his club’s match scheduled for March 23 in England’s League Two.
For 18-year-old Geragusian, this is his first call-up to the senior national team. Previously, he had appeared twice for Armenia’s youth team. The 194 cm tall player is expected to strengthen the attack and bring more tactical variety to the team.
The national team’s first training was also the debut for Colombian defender Julio Bueno from Ararat-Armenia. The 29-year-old has been playing in Armenia for over five years and already holds citizenship, allowing him to represent the national team. Bueno also boasts an impressive height of 191 cm.
Both new players are expected to reinforce the team in positions where there was previously a shortage.
Additionally, other youth team representatives were invited and participated in the national team training for the first time: goalkeeper Gor Matinyan, midfielders Karlen Ovannisyan and Artur Askaryan, as well as winger Narek Ovannisyan.
The video of Armenia national team’s first training in 2026 under head coach Egishe Melikyan and new fitness coach Predrag Bozic is available below.
