Figure Skater Salazaryan Finishes Junior World Championships with Career-Best Result

Armenian figure skater Mikael Salazaryan has finished his performances at the 2026 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, which are taking place in Tallinn.
The 18-year-old athlete placed 32nd in the short program with a score of 54.05 points. This result became the best of his career, but it was not enough to qualify for the free skating segment.
A total of 43 skaters competed in the short program, while the top 24 athletes advanced to the final stage of the competition.
Japan’s Riko Nakata led the short program with 89.51 points.
Second place went to South Korea’s Minkyu Seo with 86.33 points.
Another Japanese skater, Daiya Ebihara, finished third with 81.53.
Japan’s Taiga Nishino placed fourth (81.14), while American Jacob Sanchez rounded out the top five with 81.03 points.

The junior men’s free skate will take place on March 6.
Meanwhile, the girls will begin their performances at the tournament tomorrow. Sixteen-year-old Armenian skater Izabella Yesayan will take to the ice in the short program.
