After the winter break, Yerevan futsal club “Unisport” has made a strong statement about its ambitions. The club has not just strengthened its squad — it has built a roster capable of fighting for the Armenian championship and targeting qualification for the UEFA Futsal Champions League group stage.
New head coach with European experience
The key news was the appointment of Latvian specialist Aleksandr Dibrivniy as head coach.
Dibrivniy is a former head coach of the Latvia national futsal team and previously coached Latvia’s Nikars and Estonia’s Cosmos.
With Nikars he:
-
Won the Latvian championship 6 times
-
Won the Latvian Cup 4 times
-
Won the Super Cup 4 times
-
Reached the Champions League Main Round 6 times
-
Advanced to the Elite Round twice
With Cosmos, he won the Estonian championship twice, as well as one Cup and one Super Cup.
This is a clear signal: Unisport is building a project with international ambitions.
Nine internationals — a powerful roster
For the second half of the Armenian championship, the club assembled an impressive squad:
-
Armenia national team’s second goalkeeper Emin Garabekyants
-
Kyrgyzstan national team’s first goalkeeper Bekbolot Akmataliev
-
Armenia defenders Hamlet Manukyan and Sarkis Margaryan
-
Armenia universal Rafik Melikyan
-
Kyrgyzstan universal Semetey Murzakulov
-
Armenia forwards Migran Dermendzhyan and Putrus Vasiliev
-
Dermendzhyan scored twice against Ukraine at EURO-2026
-
-
Kyrgyzstan forward Erbol Dolotov
In total — 9 national team players. For Armenian futsal, this is a serious statement of dominance.
Tournament situation
After 8 rounds, Unisport leads the Armenian championship with 24 points out of 24 possible.
The team is 3 points ahead of Seven and 6 ahead of reigning champions Yerevan.
Last season, Unisport suffered a painful defeat to Yerevan in the playoff final.
The club openly states its goals:
not only to qualify for the Champions League, but also to compete successfully in Europe.
Given the current form, squad depth and Dibrivniy’s experience, the Yerevan side can seriously challenge for a place in the main group stage.
