Exclusive: Vladislav Ayriyan — on his biggest fight, support in Armenia, and a promise to his mother

Undefeated boxer Vladislav Ayriyan (11-0) will step into the ring tomorrow, March 29, in Vladikavkaz, where he will take part in one of the most important fights of his career. His opponent will be experienced Russian fighter Mark Urvanov (26-5-2).

Ahead of the bout, a Sportaran.com correspondent met with Ayriyan to discuss his preparation, goals, and personal motivation.

According to Vladislav, the upcoming fight could become a real breakthrough for him:

“My upcoming fight will be against a very serious opponent from Yekaterinburg, Mark Urvanov. This will be a springboard for me. I currently have 11 fights, 11 wins. After this fight, I’m aiming for England and the most serious title bouts. Negotiations are already underway, and it’s possible that in five months I will have a fight in England.”

Ayriyan also shared his impressions of his last performance in Armenia:

“My last fight was in Armenia, and the support was incredible. It was my first time boxing there, and if I get another opportunity, I will definitely fight in Armenia again.”

The boxer also emphasized the symbolism he brings into the ring:

“I enter the ring with the Artsakh flag because my family comes from there. For me, there is no difference between Artsakh and Armenia — it is one whole, one family.”

Vladislav also spoke about his journey in boxing, which began in childhood:

“I started boxing at the age of 10, then quit and returned. My mother passed away, and I promised her that I would become a boxer. From that moment, I began taking it seriously. My mother’s support played a big role — she always wanted this.”

The fight against Urvanov could become a defining step for Ayriyan on his path to the international stage and title fights.
