Armenia national team winger Edgar Sevikyan may soon join Tolyatti’s “Akron”. According to insider Ivan Karpov, the clubs are in the final stages of negotiations: the deal involves a paid loan from Ferencváros for €250,000 with a buyout option of just over €1 million.
Earlier reports mentioned figures around €4 million, but for Akron — a privately owned club operating within realistic financial limits — such a transfer scenario was out of the question.
Edgar is well acquainted with Russian football: at Pari NN and Lokomotiv he collected a total of 13 goal contributions (8 goals and 5 assists). His key strengths are one-on-one dribbling and a powerful, precise shot.
For Akron, this transfer looks extremely timely. On the wings, the team currently has Bakaev, who hasn’t scored since September 2024, youngsters Boldyrev and Dmitriev with minimal RPL experience, and Pestryakov, who is more often used as a defender. The club’s best winger, Benshimol, is still recovering from injury.
Thus, Sevikyan can not only add squad depth but also significantly strengthen Akron’s attacking quality.
Last season, Sevikyan played on loan at Lokomotiv before returning to Ferencváros, where he tried to establish himself under Robbie Keane, but only appeared in 2 out of 10 possible matches (one of them against Noah in the Champions League).
Unfortunately, Hungary’s new strict foreign player quota rules did not allow Sevikyan to compete for a place in the reigning champions’ squad, so he is forced to continue his career at another club.
