18-year-old Armenia U21 forward Finn Geragusian scored a brace to help Sunderland U18 secure a confident 4–1 victory over Brighton U18 in the FA Youth Cup Round of 16.
The match took place at Eppleton Stadium and started perfectly for the hosts. By the 27th minute, the Black Cats were already leading 3–0. Tom Proctor opened the scoring after corner. Shortly after, Marcus Neill doubled the advantage following a quick combination, before Geragusian made his mark — the Armenian forward reacted sharply, struck the post, and the ball bounced into the net.
In the second half, Sunderland were reduced to ten men after Charlie Forsyth received his second yellow card. Brighton managed to pull one back through Adam Brett, but the intrigue did not last long. Geragusian was first to react to a rebound after a saved shot, completing his brace and sealing the 4–1 win.
For the young Armenian striker, these were his 11th and 12th goals of the season. He has now scored in four consecutive matches. Notably, Geragusian had also found the net for Sunderland U21 prior to this game, underlining his excellent form.
In the quarter-finals, Sunderland U18 will face Manchester United U18, who defeated Oxford United U18 by the same 4–1 scoreline.
