The captain of the Armenia national team and Krasnodar midfielder Eduard Spertsyan shared details about the health condition of club president and owner Sergey Galitsky. His comments were featured in the documentary film “Krasnodar: The Road to the Championship.”
According to Spertsyan, the team did not understand for a long time why Galitsky was absent from training camps.
“He hadn’t come to the training camp for a long time. Naturally, we started asking questions and trying to understand what had happened. At some point, we were told the truth. It was a real shock for us. Of course, we constantly discussed it among ourselves and prayed. God willing, everything will be fine with him. Everything he has done for us… I would say he is like a father to us,” the captain noted.
Information About Galitsky’s Diagnosis
Earlier, Russian media reported a possible recurrence of an oncological illness in Galitsky. According to media sources, doctors’ prognosis was unfavorable. The club did not disclose official medical details.
The president of the “Bulls” himself confirmed that his health is “not in the best condition.” He admitted that the illness at times even prevented him from watching the team’s matches live.

“The Club No Longer Depends on One Person”
Galitsky emphasized that he deliberately built the management structure so that Krasnodar would not depend solely on him.
“It’s impossible to compare how I participate in the club’s life now with how I did five years ago — before my illness and the difficult situations in my life. And I did it intentionally — the club no longer depends on one person.
Our revenues and resources invested in the academy and the club will allow us to remain stable for a long time. For the next 10–15 years, whether I am here or not, the fans can be calm. The club will continue to exist and remain financially at its current level. What I promised, I have done,” the owner of Krasnodar stated.
It was reported last spring that the businessman invested 7.8 billion rubles into the club’s academy. These investments became part of the Bulls’ long-term sustainable development strategy.
The story of the president’s illness and the team’s reaction became one of the most emotional storylines in the film about Krasnodar’s championship ambitions, highlighting Galitsky’s special role in the life of the club and its players.
