Davit Margaryan wins bronze at U23 European Wrestling Championships

Armenian freestyle wrestler Davit Margaryan (70 kg) won a bronze medal at the U23 European Wrestling Championships 2026 taking place in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
Margaryan started the tournament with a loss to Russia’s Emi Eltemirov. Since Eltemirov advanced to the final, the Armenian wrestler received another chance to compete for a medal through the repechage round.
In the repechage, Davit confidently defeated Italy’s Daniele Gubbiotti with a score of 11:4, and in the bronze medal bout he beat Germany’s Marcel Vagin 5:2.
This medal became Davit Margaryan’s first European Championship medal in the U23 age category.
It is also the second medal for Armenia at the 2026 U23 European Championships in Zrenjanin. Earlier, Arman Harutyunyan (57 kg) won bronze. In addition, Levik Mikaelyan (61 kg) will compete for gold in the final tomorrow.
