On October 4, in the Norwegian city of Førde, the third competition day of the 2025 World Weightlifting Championships took place. Medals were contested in two weight categories — 65 kg for men and 58 kg for women.
For the third day in a row, a North Korean athlete triumphed among women. This time it was Kim Il-gyong, who set a world record in the women’s 58 kg category. North Korea now has 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal — only major medals. DPRK confidently leads the medal standings. However, in heavier categories, new contenders are expected to emerge.
Among men, Turkey’s Muhammed Furkan Özbek claimed victory and also set a new world record in the total. Özbek lifted 9 kg more than North Korea’s Pak Myong-jin.
