Burkina Faso’s national team was defeated by Algeria in the second round of the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The match ended 0:1.
The only goal of the match came from a penalty in the 23rd minute, scored by Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian forward increased his tournament tally to three goals and leads the CAN-2025 top scorers list.
Despite the loss, Burkina Faso remains second in Group E with 3 points. In the final round, the team will face Sudan, who defeated Mozambique today.
